Industrial Fan Hire

An Industrial fan hire is available for businesses who seek significant savings by renting instead of buying. Custom fan can improve air circulation with rented fans and blowers. Depending upon the industry, there are several choices.

These industrial fans and blowers are designed to move large volumes of air to cool and ventilate offices and workshops.  These fans are used widely in industries for increasing flow rates of fluids, but mainly air. Fans are designed according to the type of process, fluid, and desired flow rate which are mounted on a shaft which is driven by a high power motor. The shaft is a rod which connects the motor with the fan (rotor element).

Industrial fans have several uses that are applied in different operations and processes such as combustion, aeration, cooling, drying, exhaust, ventilation, air-cleaning, particulate transport. Air blown from industrial fans can also be applied in electrical power production, cement production, pollution control, mining, metal manufacturing and processing, petrochemical, and food processing. The two main industrial fan categories are centrifugal fans and axial fans. Do you know what type of fan you need?

Centrifugal Fan Principle

Industrial centrifugal fans are one of the most widely used fan type which operate on the centrifugation theory and thusly named. The centrifugal force of the fan blades pushes the fluid (liquid, gases) by applying a force. The stationary part of the pump is known as a stator and the moving part is known as a rotor. The rotor is fixed on a stator. A moving impeller is joined on a rotor which rotates. The fan blades are cut at different angles to provide the optimum centrifugal force to the fluid. The fluid then comes in contact with the impeller blades, due to centrifugation action, the fluid moves towards the outer periphery with a greater force and thus moves with a greater velocity. This whole assembly is fitted into a metallic casing.

Axial Flow Principle

Industrial axial fans allow the fluid to move in the parallel direction to that of the axis of the rotation of the impeller. This is in contrast to centrifugal fans which direct flow at right angles to the propeller. Axial fans are best suited where high flow and lower resistance applications are required. Blade width, number of blades, width of propeller, propeller speed and the angle of cuts on the blades, plays an important role in the characteristic performance of axial fans.

The axial fans come in different dimensions according to their need in the process they are being used. For example the most common type of fan for an air-cooled heat exchanger (ACHE) is less than 14 feet in diameter, comprising of 4 blades. The design for wet cooling towers is 28 feet in diameter, comprising of eight blades. Axial flow fans are used for localised cooling purposes.

Some ventilation systems where there is no room for larger sized fans, axial fans are installed instead. These types of fans are often found in small electrical and mechanical gadgets for cooling purposes due to the limited space for fan installation. Axial fan swirl patterns are differ when fans are allowed to run at different speeds.

Industrial Fan Specifics

Industrial fan design can be determined via several paths. For small industrial fans, the diameters of fans are usually kept in the range of 1.2 meters. For the larger fans, more complex design is required. Perfect engineering and application of fluid dynamics principles are required for the best performance.

Materials of construction of fans are selected by keeping different parameter and factors in mind. The fluid flow rates and type of fluid being circulated play a significant role in fan design. The type of fluid, corrosiveness and abrasiveness factors will determine the construction materials of fan. High speed fans imply more force on the rotating body structure; determining excessive stresses should be eliminated when considering fan design–using finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics is common. CAD and other computer simulation tools aid help in designing the perfect industrial fan, but if you are interested in an industrial fan hire, don’t hesitate to contact Custom Fans for assistance.
